Can someone leaving me speechless serve as #WordlessWednesday?

I love taking photos and with that comes the knowledge that some folks are going to dodge the camera. And I’ve had friends and family who just ignore me for the bulk of the time, which is fine. The person who draws the camera either tries to stay oblivious to it or enjoys hamming it up now and then. I recently spent 36 hours with a friend who excels in those two categories and as I went through photos after the trip, I couldn’t help but giggle at some of the more fun-loving photos.

Yes, when we passed through a town with a catchy phrase about stretching, I demanded we stop for a photo op. Katie ran to stretch! Visiting her grandparents, she hammed it up with a childhood photo. With a crowd of friends over, Katie was sure to be the hostess with the mostess, she went the extra mile.

How do you describe this love of place & enthusiasm for living her life her way? Giggling is about all I could do though cause words fail me when I go to explain Katie Pinke’s zest for life. I just know I love it. You’ll see it here in the photos and you should check it out regularly on her blog The Pinke Post.

I met Katie in real life the first time I ever visited the prairies of North Dakota. I mean I was in shock when she literally invited us over for supper/dinner.. Yes. I use both. To be honest, it was one of my first real “social media” experiences.. But I knew right away from the very first time I met Katie that 1. she was someone very special, unlike anyone else I’d ever met and 2. she had a real passion for North Dakota and where she lived. I mean an intense passion. She was so excited for me to be possibly moving. It in fact made me excited to consider moving there. And frankly, knowing that I had a female friend in Katie here in ND gave me a piece of mind. I knew that Katie was someone that I could have a deep bond with. And the more time I spend with her, the more her personality is contagious… The way she just oozes North Dakota and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo here. I call her and Val my prairie sisters and in fact, I do think of them as the sisters I never had. Both role models, both people I look up to, and I am so thankful to have found them here and made connections with them both. I love the images you’ve captured of Katie.. They really do make her personality come across even just in an image. And way to put someone who is usually behind the camera, in front of the camera! 🙂

Whew girlie! That’s quite a long comment! But I love it. I know the prairie sisterhood is a great one…. too bad you couldn’t be there with the sisters. Katie sure enjoyed hosting us!

How wonderful to have such a great friend, especially to go on a trip with. Not everyone can travel in harmony. Looks like you had lots of fun.

Travel’s a big part of my world…. love finding the rare folks to travel with seamlessly! You are right, they don’t come along everyday!

Nice job, JP! Love the picts you captured of Katie. She looks so full of life and energy. I hope to meet her in person someday and love her blog.

Don’t worry, JP, I would love to meet you also!

    Are starting a WW hop?

    • Janice Person September 13, 2012 at 10:05 pm #

We will meet. It will happen, just a question of when! As far as a hop, I do them most Wednesdays but have to admit I didn’t do too well this summer. Maybe I can do better for a while. 🙂

What are you thinking?
